New Appointment  of Club President - Dale Colclough

Dear Trentham Running Club members

I am extremely humbled, proud, and honoured to be asked to represent Trentham Running club as President.

I was shocked and so sad to have received the news that Richard had passed away and we were great friends and training partners at TRC for many years. He will be very sadly missed but never forgotten and I know he will be a hard act to follow.

Many of you won’t know me as I have not been actively running or involved directly with the club for eight years following injury and a change to my career, which  means I work away a lot during the spring and summer months.  However I had honorary membership bestowed on me some years ago and I have always remained passionate about our wonderful club.

I joined the club in 1992 and during the 90s and 00s the club was a massive part of my life.

I previously served as club Chairperson and Men’s Team Manager and subsequently advised and supported club members with their marathon training.  I have always held a firm belief that the friendly, social and inclusive aspects to our club were our strength and it’s great to see that these values have been maintained.

Whilst my running has been on hold for the last eight years I have always kept myself fit by cycling, swimming and waking. My interests are all outdoor related I’m a keen mountain walker, orienteer and have a real passion for wildlife.

I couldn’t have accepted the role without making a commitment to support our club where and when required and I hope to meet you all soon having been invited to attend the forthcoming presentation evening.

Regards Dale

Club President - Richard O'Keeffe
We're devastated to inform you that we have received the sad news that our Club President, Richard O'Keeffe, passed away at his home in Bulgaria on 19th September 2023. He was a long standing member of TRC and has held many roles including Club Chair, ladies team captain, group leader, coach and more. He established the fast group reps, the TRC around the globe FB page, the Nationals XC after party to name a few. He has left a legacy not to mention his own awesome racing achievements.

For me, and many other members of the club, he was a treasured friend, a loveable, generous, fun, stubborn, witty, great guy. He is a huge loss and irreplaceable. It has been an honour to know him and have him as a part of our Club. Heartfelt condolences to Liz O'Keefe from everyone at Trentham.

Trentham @ Potters 'Arf

Our Club fielded a very strong male team at this years local half marathon with 13 of our runners coming in under 1 hour 40 mins

Conti Thunder Run 24

It was a monumentous achievement for our very own 'Bog' Michael Bosworth who took the highest stage at the 2021 event taking first place in a strong field and achieving 19 laps, 115 miles in under 24 hours. The support he received from his Trentham team mates show just how proud the club are of his achievement, which goes into our record books.

Now that he's had time to reflect, I feel he may be back again next year to defend his title.

Sadly the experience has caused him to loose the love for flapjacks

Bosley Fell Race Winner - Wendy Swift

Congratulations to our very own Wendy Swift for winning the Bosley Fell Race!! She's not on FB, and if you see her in person she would never say what she's achieved, because she is too humble for her own good! But she won and absolutely deserves it. She is an "eyeballs out" runner and keeping up with her in training is hard work! Proud 💚💚 - Deb Thomas

The Chairman and the Committee of TRC would like to send out huge congratulations to one of it's members.

Not only has he smashed the previous V70 10k club record by almost two minutes, but he's also come first in his age group at the Telford 10k and has secured himself a place in the England team for 2020

I'm sure all of our members will be proud to have him in our Club and pass on a great big well done to David Juggins

Seen here with Vanessa Welham (Stafford Harriers), and Dr David Weldon (also Trentham RC) and all doing well for Stoke-on-Trent
